Past Writings

First, let me say thanks to all who shared in and added to THC@SAL's good time this past Saturday. More on that later.
I just wanted to take this oppurtunity and post some of my past writing work. If your interested in reading, just click and those images should expand

THC @ SAL's

It's been one new year, two presidents and three broken vertabrea since THC last played at Sal's. I'd say that means it's about time to do it again.

TOM HARTLAND COLLECTIVE Live @ Sal's:

Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009 : 9:30 p.m. - 2 a.m.

Sal's is a swanky liquor store strip mall bar. That being said, the place has an unmistakeable charm. Perhaps it's the suprisingly nice bar. Probably, it's the class of characters who frequent it. But when THC play's there, it's our home turf, and that means it'll be on as our friends and family get down to party. Join us for the music and drinks, stay the night, than join us for an after party of epic proportions. The sun will rise on Feb. 8, and we'll be there to see it.

Sal's Place is located at the A&P Shopping Center: 275 Pascack Road, Washington Township, NJ 07675

(That's the photo we're using in our promotions, which I find to be strikingly similar to our actual look, although shockingly, it's not us. That's one of the top hits in a Sal's Google Image search and it is indeed taken at Sal's.)

Homes for Our Troops

Working as a reporter, every so often you c
an get away from the normal stuff and can cover something really worthwhile.
This past week was the groundbreaking ceremony for a new home for Cpl. VisnuGonzalez.  Under the guidance of Homes for Our troops, a national non-profit that builds homes for soldiers suffering from disabilities stemming from service related injuries, a plot of land was purchased in my home town. Soon construction will start on Cpl. Gonzalez's new home, free of charge to him and his family.

It's humbling when dealing with personal problems and everyday stress to encounter something like this and I appreciate being able to share the story.

And for good measure here is the first article I wrote about this prior to the groundbreaking.

SAME OLD JETS

New music is up.

It's not mixed yet, so turn it up!

Great weekend at Jon Stern's Rough magik in PK.

We're stoked and looking forward to playing all the time.

New sports column

My column Jan. 15 for steppin' out. It'll be legible if you click on it.

My first column I did under a three hour deadline because I think the last sports guy quit or was fired. This one I had time to think about and edit. I was sitting in a parking lot reading a two day old newspaper when I came across a one line 'sports short' saying Utah attorney to investigate BCS for violating the Sherman Anti Trust Laws. Thats my concept and I ran with it.

Freelancing

Stepping up with Steppin Out,
I landed my first sports writing gig in a cool venue. Know for scantily clad models and bar/nightlife promos, not for its editorial content, I could not be happier. Hopefully as I continue to write for them I can really have fun with poetic license they grant to their writers.

I wrote my first column on the Giants Eagles game this coming weekend. It can be found here.
(You have to type page 38 or flip to that page. This link may only work till Wednesday)

Writing is a craft and I have a ways to go in honing that craft, therefore I am forever indebted to all publications that have let me pen for them, Steppin Out, Downbeat Magazine and most importantly P.Press and NV Press.

Mikey Wheels

Respect and mutual admiration commonly circulate in the blogoshere, however none greater than the admiration I have for Mike Oliveri of Mikey Wheels .

I rencently wrote about Mikey in one of my papers and he has posted it on his Web site.  He does a much better job on his site than I do on my mine and it's absoulutely worth checking out.

Good luck in California Mikey!

Life is good

Happy New Year. On a personal note I am looking forward to 2009 and leaving 2008 in the past! A seemingly rough year for me was somehow underlined with happyness and many blessings of family, friends and opportunities bestowed on me.

In the new year this blog will be updated much more frequently
