JAM TONIGHT!
Does anyone read this?
Same Old Jets is the incarnation of years of loving music with friends. Dave Heinz, the central writing force behind same old jets, and me go back to freshman year at Marist college. Dave happened to walk out of a ninth floor elevator with a girl on his arm one fateful dawn and stumbled onto me strumming a guitar alone. Within minutes we discovered that Dave could rap to me playing Sugar Hill Gang's Rappers delight, and that girls liked it!
We started hanging out here and there while enjoying the college life style and started a cover band that called 'Everyone Gets Laid.' Our steady gig was on a Monday night at a bar with a max occupancy of 47 people. We'd play from 11:30 p.m to 3 a.m. on a Monday, usually with about 47 of our friends there to party with us.
A central person through all this who's not a musician, and probably the most nefarious character who consistently emerges in our song writing is flannel rob. Two posts prior I detailed how he's going to South Korea for a year. That's why for our upcoming show at the Bullpen, which will truly be a family affair, we have planned a nostalgic set list full of songs about Flannel, mostly wrote around 2003-'04 school year.
We are working on our new album of original material we're very proud of and it's realistic that these first songs, mostly parodies of popular songs, will probably be forever dropped from our live shows and musical catalog. Most haven't been played in years, but they capture a brief moment in time that's so poignant when talking about Flannel, who true to his character, will pack up and head to South Korea for a year. While he's gone, we'll have to find a new person to write about in lyrics. Anyway it is late and I'm rambiling. As always, peace and love.

BREAKIN NEWS from Fox News Flannel
Perhaps you’ve heard the whispers? They are confirmed.

Everyone’s favorite, hating on FOX News Channel, wearin lotsa flannel, Rob, has signed a One-Year Professional Contract to begin immediately in the Mok-Dong, South Korea.
Pending an interview at the consulate in Manhattan (like stealing candy for Rob Banks), Flannel could be off as early as Monday, experiencing the other-side of the world into 2010. His new home base, far from Plainview, NY, will be on the banks of Han River, deep in the Yangcheon-gu neighborhood of Seoul.
However in a celebratory event, the Reverend will join the Bullpen crowd, at the behest of Same Old Jets, less than 72 hours before the terms of his contract must be executed.
Help us wish him Bon Voyage prior to his maiden trans-continental voyage."
Sweet shades!?

GOT SOUL?
GOT SOUL @ THE OLD FASHIONED RESTAURANT
81 South Broadway, Nyack NY 10960
9p.m?
Fuzzy saw us at Sal's this past weekend after we've known each other on and off over the past year. He asked THC to come gig with his band Got Soul. We've had no rehersals, so will be pure chaos spun from the mother of invention. HIT ME.

Thanks to this picture I actually encroached on celebrity Journalist/Editor Chaunce Hayden's "Asshole of the Week" Column.. and he gave me a 'shoutout' on his page. Read the magazine online, or pick it up at the bagel store, bar or out of the garbage. I'm on page 28. Also check out my friend Laurie Kaplan p. 38.
Tame-Humble-Comedown of THC
What a great feeling. The themes of the night were there, worked into the songs.
There was all night ’till daylight, the central thesis of the evening. Music gona teach them, the old Marley tune that is transcends myself more than I intend it to be preachy. By the end of the night I was asking, who quit the game?
And at some point I thought, ‘if I could only do this more often…’ I watched the full moon long after the crowd had gone to bed, failing to realize the meaning of all night, till daylight. I was thankful to have a bill to trade for a cab home to my own bed just before the sunrise.
Thanks to those who made THC’s return to Sal’s –let the royal trumpets sound - awesome. I had a great time and am truly blessed to be playing music and having fun. We recorded the night; anything fit to release we'll mix over the next week and throw up on Myspace. Peace and Love.
