We had a great weekend of music, trucking it up to Poughkeepsie for a show on Friday. We then spent the day in the studio Saturday before heading back down to NYC for a 1am show in Tribeca.

A-Roid bedded Elliot Spitzer’s madam, the final-four are heading to Detroit, Jets fans salivate as trade rumors circulate AND Japan? knocked of Korea in Los Angles to be crowned the world’s best baseball team. It truly is March Madness!
It’s a great time of year in our area. My memories of March, whether they’re from St. Patrick’s Day, the annual Allman Brothers run at the Beacon or simply the first nice days of the year, always share a common thread: great sports seen in good bars.
The opening weekend of the NCAA men’s tournament is always special and this year it didn’t disappoint. Allow me to briefly complement myself for singling out Sienna versus Ohio State as a stand out game. While they’re one of the biggest rivals of my alma mater Marist, even I enjoyed watching as the Sienna Saints of Loudonville, NY toppled Ohio State in double overtime and almost took down Louisville two days later.
It was a great show, but it was one of the few upsets of the tournament. Moving into this Thursday’s sweet sixteen, every single one and two seed remain and we’re poised for another electrifying and entertaining weekend of hardwood hoop battles.
Also entertaining this week have been reports that the $300 million man himself, NY Yankee’s slugger Alex Rodriguez showered Kristin Davis with more than just expensive gifts. The 32-year-old buxom blonde is the same who rose to fame for masterminding a whore operation in New York that ended Governor Eliot Spitzer’s career.

The strange but true saga that follows Rodriguez also saw him appearing to kiss his mirror image in a Details Magazine photo shoot. Meanwhile as he’s been rehabbing a hip surgery, the Yankees have been enjoying a peaceful spring in part thanks to the World Baseball Classic.
The United States provided a second round thriller when the Mets’ David Wright got a game winning hit in an elimination game over Puerto Rico. But as the Japanese wore down our pitching on Sunday, I couldn’t help feeling that we might have been better off with Kenny Power’s on the mound throwing fastballs like he’s at Ashley Schaffer BMW.
The championship had national rivals Korea and Japan play for the fifth time in the tournament. Before the game Japan manager Tatsunori Hara said it could be the game of the century. While the extra innings game deprived me of sleep, I’m pretty sure not too many people in our area watched all the way until …
And finally the question, well, some of us are asking: Can the Jets really land Jay Cutler from Denver in the same fashion they got Brett Favre last year? My heart is full of hope, but as a long time fan, my common sense tells me that come September it’ll be the same old jets…
